Our Mission

The Spelman Medical Foundation is committed to support, assist, and improve the total health care of the individual, family and community.  At the Spelman Medical Foundation we raise funds to support our mission.  We strive to work creatively with anyone interested in making a gift to support health care in our community.  Possibilities are endless, and we will remain enduringly grateful to all of our donors who believe as Dr. Spelman did that “Our greatest reward for giving unselfishly will be our own happiness at having had a part in the improvement of mankind.”

The Spelman Medical Foundation at Saint Luke’s Northland Hospital

Today, at the Spelman Medical Foundation we are asking our friends and neighbors to invest in a bold new dream: to improve health and well-being for everyone in our community with balanced health care choices.  To do this, we join hands with our closest partner and benefactor, Saint Luke’s Northland Hospital, and with our friends - both individuals and institutions - to offer services that nurture medical excellence, add innovative new therapies to our health care menu, and ensure that we serve the total well-being of all residents of the Northland.

The Center for Women’s Care was designed by women for women. Because it gives Northland women what they asked for it has changed the way women receive health care.  Since it opened in the summer of 2006, five thousand women have enjoyed one-stop diagnostic imaging, lab testing, annual physicals, gynecological examinations, and rehabilitation.  Because of the central role of the nurse navigator, health care no longer has to be a scavenger hunt for the right source of medical care when it is needed.   The Spelman Foundation and Saint Luke’s are proud to announce that this innovative project has been so successful that it is being replicated at Saint Luke’s on the Country Club Plaza.
