Capital Campaign

Center for Women’s Care

Spelman Medical Foundation’s largest project was the development and funding of a $2 million capital campaign for the Center for Women’s Care at Saint Luke’s North Hospital. The Center, open in June of 2006, was designed by women, for women, and has changed the way women receive health care.

Since opening, more than 30,000 women have enjoyed one-stopwellness and prevention healthservices featuringdiagnostic imaging, labresults, well woman annual exams, digital mammography screenings, osteoporosis screeningwith bone densitometry, physical therapyfor urinary incontinence& pelvic pain, ultrasound services, hormone counseling, massages, fitness classes, metabolic screeningand more. Because of the central role of the nurse navigator, health care no longer has to be a scavenger hunt for the right source of medical care when it is needed.

Spelman Medical Foundation and Saint Luke’s North are pleased that this Center served as a model for The Ellen Hockaday Center for Women’s at Saint Luke’s Hospital on the Country Club Plaza.
